The late Muhammad Shakeel Khan, founder of the STAR Foundation, held a Master’s degree in Social Sciences. On October 8, 2005, a devastating earthquake struck northern Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, claiming over 73,000 lives. Before this tragic event, he was a student, actively involved in social initiatives, including his work with “Swaira Trust” as one of its most dedicated members. Following the earthquake, he collaborated with international organizations to support rehabilitation efforts for those affected. Inspired by this experience, he felt a strong sense of responsibility, which led him to gather a group of young volunteers and establish the STAR Foundation.
